Local town mourns passing of popular artist

One of the late Seamus Coleman's most famous paintings - Fair Day in Ballaghaderreen.
The whole of Ballaghaderreen is in mourning following the recent passing of local legend, Seamus (Seamy) Coleman.
Seamy of Woodlawn Close, Kilcolman was a well-known figure in Ballagh, famed for his art, philanthropy and all round ‘soundness’.
He was often seen on his bicycle carrying his artist tools, resplendent in a beret and smiling as he went.
His portfolio of work was extensive and captured life in the town through an optimist’s eye. His family have thanked all who have expressed their sympathy at Seamy’s passing.
Seamy passed away peacefuly on January 24th last after a short illness with his family by his side in the wonderful care of Eithne and staff of Oakwood Nursing Home, Ballaghaderreen.
