A man in his 40s has died following an "incident" at a residential property in County Leitrim.
A man in his 40s has died following an "incident" at a residential property in County Leitrim.
Gardaí attached to the Sligo Leitrim Crime Functional Area have commenced an investigation into all of the circumstances surrounding the death of the man following the incident in County Leitrim on Thursday night.
Shortly after 9 p.m.gardaí responded to reports of an incident at a residential property in Arderry, where a man in his 40s was found unresponsive. He was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel but was pronounced deceased a short time later.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in County Leitrim.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed and both the local coroner and the office of the state pathologist have been notified.
The body of the deceased remains at the scene, which is preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
Investigations are ongoing.
