More weather warnings likely as Status Yellow snow-ice warning issued for County Roscommon

Some hazardous travelling conditions are expected over the coming days.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow show-ice warning for most of the country, including County Roscommon, this weekend.

The national weather forecaster has predicted that sleet and snow will fall over the country, with snowfall accumulations expected.

The warning comes into effect on Saturday (tomorrow) at 5 p.m. and lasts until Sunday at 5 p.m..

Potential impacts include hazardous travelling conditions and travel disruption.

Counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary have been upgraded to Status Orange snow-ice warning over the same period.

However, with the weather set to turn even colder into the early days of next week, further weather warnings are likely.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann's Climate Statement for December shows that Mount Dillon in County Roscommon recorded its highest wind gust in December since 2006 at the height of Storm Darragh on Friday, December 6th.
