A fresh application has been made to fund the Edenville House project in Roscommon Town.
Late last year, the project to refurbish and convert the historic building for creative, cultural, educational, and recreational purposes missed out on the €7 million funding required.
In early May, Roscommon County Council applied for funding under a new scheme called the Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund (TCRIF) to complete the detailed design and renovation of Edenville House.
This new funding stream is the successor to the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund and is administered by the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage.
“One point of difference in the successor scheme is an increase in the maximum funding available to projects located within areas defined in the Pobal Index as ‘Disadvantaged’, ‘Very Disadvantaged’ or ‘Extremely Disadvantaged’, to 90% of the overall project costs,” a spokesperson for the council said. "Edenville House is eligible to be considered for 90% grant funding.”
The council said it is looking forward to hearing from the department in respect of this funding application in due course.
When contacted, the department confirmed that it has received the application, along with more than 100 other applications from around the country.
“It, along with all the others received, is currently being assessed against the criteria set out through the application process,” the department said. “It is hoped that announcements about which projects have been successful in this process could be made later this summer.”
