A 25-year-old disqualified driver was sent to prison for four months at a recent sitting of Roscommon District Court for driving without insurance.

Heino Trytsman, with an address at House 3, Old Convent, Ballyhaunis, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or insurance before Judge James Faughnan. The incident happened on July 7th, 2025.

The court heard that gardaí were carrying out a mobile patrol and the accused was stopped at Rathbrennan, Ballybride, County Roscommon. He was disqualified at the time of the detection. 

The car was seized and the accused admitted that he was disqualified from driving.

Judge Faughnan was also told that this was the accused’s third no-insurance offence.

Solicitor Alan Gannon said his client was a mechanic who is originally from South Africa. On the day in question, he was buying a car for his mother, who has cancer, and took it out for a test drive.

Judge Faughnan imposed four months’ imprisonment and disqualified the accused from driving for four years.
