The Roscommon Association in London has paid tribute to the late Aonghus Leydon, Goff Street, Roscommon.

The tributes were paid to Mr Leydon at a Memorial Mass held recently at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Stoke Newington. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr Martin Tate, parish priest, and Fr John Cullen, Nazareth House, London.

Mr Leydon was a dedicated supporter of the Roscommon Association in London, Roscommon GAA and Club Rossie. He was co-owner of the Auld Shillelagh and the WB Yeats with his brother, Tomas.

The tributes reflected the outstanding service that he gave to his family and to the community both in London and his native Roscommon.

Meanwhile, the Roscommon Association has made donations of £3,000 to several charities following the success of its dinner and dance last Autumn.

The donations were made to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust; Join our Boys, Roscommon; the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice and the Critical Care Centre at King’s College Hospital in London to provide music therapy to patients recovering from serious head injuries.

Members of the Association recently attended a music therapy session at King’s College Hospital where they presented a cheque for £3,000 to Tulsk native Anne McLoone and her team to support the programme for the next year. The Ballroom of Romance in Addiscombe also made a presentation of £4,000, the proceeds of a quiz night.

Planning is well underway for the Association’s annual dinner and dance on Saturday, October 24th, which will take place at the Clayton Hotel, Chiswick. You can keep in contact with the Association by Facebook: Roscommon Association London or email: roscommonassoclondon@gmail.com
