Several Roscommon people were among the thousands of visitors in Rome on Sunday as Pope Leo canonised 15-year-old Carlo Acutis.

The London-born Italian boy, who died of leukaemia in 2006, has become the first millennial saint.

Carlo has been labelled “God’s influencer” because of his use of digital technology to spread the Catholic faith.

Several miracles have been attributed to the teenager’s intercession, including healings of gravely ill individuals.
