A Status Orange high forest fire risk warning has been issued.

Local authorities, including Roscommon, are urging the public to exercise extreme caution as dry conditions persist.

The alert came into effect on Tuesday, June 23rd and is set to remain in place until 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 27th.

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) said the warning is driven by prolonged dry weather and rising temperatures, which have significantly increased the risk of fires in forests, boglands, and open countryside.

The warning comprises the following advice: No barbeques or outdoor fires in forests; landowners must follow restrictions on land burning; park responsibly – don’t block emergency access routes.

If you see a fire, call 112 immediately, move to a safe location, and follow emergency instructions.
