The late Eileen Fallon.

Tributes have been paid following the passing of St. Dominic’s GAA club stalwart, Eileen Fallon.

In an online tribute, the club said it was with profound sadness that it learned of the passing of “one of St. Dominic’s greatest Gaels, Eileen Fallon”.

The club described her as a “leader, mentor, officer, coach and friend”.

“To generations of GAA members in our parish, Eileen’s name goes hand in hand with any mention of our club. Passionate about all areas of GAA within the Knockcroghery area, her greatest legacy lay in her ardent promotion of the game of camogie and Scór.

“Eileen was a pillar of our community, a wonderful friend and club mate, and a person who touched the lives of so many in a very special and positive way,” it said.

St. Dominic’s said that the proud camogie and Scór traditions in the club were as the result of “Eileen’s nurturing touch, an approach that encouraged, supported and included so many young people into these pastimes”.

“Whether it was on the side of the pitch or the stage, Eileen’s presence (always vocal!), could be felt. Her enthusiasm and dedication saw her hold officerships in both her beloved codes, at club level as chairperson/cultural Officer and onto county and provincial ranks.

“Eileen was a pillar of our community, a wonderful friend and club mate, and a person who touched the lives of so many in a very special and positive way.

“Above all, she was an immensely proud and loving mother and grandmother. We have lost one of our finest. Ár gcara Eileen, ní bheidh a léithéid arís ann. Suaimhneas síoraí dá hanam,” said the club.

She is sadly mourned by her loving husband Tommy, daughters Helena, Anita and Maria, sons Damian and Conor, her sisters Mary and Paula (Dublin), brothers Henry (Sligo), Dominic (Dublin), Micheál and Sean (Roscommon), daughters-in-law Mary and Grainne, son-in-law Andrew, grandchildren Róisín, Ciara, Iona, Euan, Cillian, Senan, Anna and Ava, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and her many nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

She is predeceased by her sons baby Thomas, baby Liam, parents Michael and Breege, parents-in-law William and Lena and her sons-in-law John and Ollie..

Reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon (F42 NH27) on Thursday (February 14th) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Fallon will be laid to rest in Gailey cemetery on Friday following Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Knockcroghery.
