Two brothers, who won the hearts and minds of people in County Roscommon a few weeks ago, completed their 33 marathons in 33 days in Dublin earlier on Thursday.

Cian and Jordan Adams, known as the FTD brothers, were given a hero’s welcome when they crossed the finish line in Merrion Square, Dublin, just before 2.30 p.m..

The brothers are carriers of the Early Onset Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) gene, a rare hereditary disease that claimed their mother’s life at just 52 years of age in 2016.

Both Jordan (31) and Cian (25) have a 99 per cent chance of developing the condition as early as their 40s.

The FTD brothers started their challenge on April 27th in Antrim, and stopped off in County Roscommon May 12th where they completed their Rossie stage of the marathon in Loughnaneane Park, Roscommon Town.

During their visit to the county, the brothers spoke movingly about the encouragement they received locally, drawing particular inspiration from County Roscommon siblings George and Isaac Naughton who are battling Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
