Weapons seized and man arrested
The weapons seized by Gardaí.
Weapons, including a machete and a hatchet, were seized and a man arrested today by local Gardaí.
Ballinasloe Gardaí received a report of a man brandishing a weapon at River Street, Ballinasloe, County Galway at approximately 8:40 am today, Monday 8th of September 2025.
Upon arrival at the scene, Gardaí searched a car and seized a machete, hatchet, and knife.
A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Investigations are ongoing, Gardaí said.
