"To the Roscommon ladies playing in the Gaelic football final this weekend, girls, I hope you have a great game. I hear there are a few Westlife fans in the panel as well, so I hope you have a great game. Best of luck and bring home the trophy," he said.

Messages of support have been flowing in for the team ahead of the final against the Banner ladies in Birr, which throws in at 4 p.m..

Former team-mates Joanne Cregg, Sinead Kenny and Amanda McLoone have wished the team every success, as have Roscommon senior men's football team manager Davy Burke, alongside players Enda Smith, Brian Stack, Diarmuid Murtagh and Daire Cregg.
