Gardaí are investigating a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision

A woman in her 30s has died in hospital days after the car in which she was a front seat passenger hit a wall and entered water in Galway city

Gardaí are investigating a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the morning of Friday, March 15th in Galway city.  

Shortly before 7 a.m. a car collided with a wall and entered the water in the Menlo area.  A female front-seat passenger, aged in her 30s, was taken to University Hospital Galway in a critical condition. She was pronounced deceased earlier today, Monday March 25th. The driver, a man in his 40s, was also taken to hospital at the time.

The road was closed for a time and a technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators was conducted.  Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.  

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Menlo area of Galway city between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, March 15th  are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
