Roscommon senior football goalkeeper Conor Carroll has completed his move to St. Brigid’s from Galway club Oranmore-Maree, the Roscommon Herald understands.

Carroll, who was nominated for both an All-Star and Young Footballer of the Year in 2023, will provide a huge boost for the Kiltoom outfit, a month out from the championship.

Both of Carroll’s parents are Roscommon natives, and he is the nephew of County Board Chairperson Brian Carroll.

He transferred counties in 2021, lining out for Liam Tully’s Roscommon U-20 team that finished as runners-up to Offaly in that year’s All-Ireland final.

In 2022, he won a Sigerson Cup with NUI Galway and broke into the Roscommon senior side under Davy Burke the following year, earning those aforementioned nominations following a stellar season.

He will now link up with Anthony Cunningham’s men as they prepare for championship fixtures against Michael Glaveys, Western Gaels and last year’s Intermediate champions Elphin, where Carroll could face off against his first cousin and fellow county goalkeeper Aaron Brady.

Carroll did not play for Oranmore-Maree in the Galway Intermediate Championship last year. He played underage for Galway from U-14 to U-20, playing under Pádraic Joyce in 2019.
