There is a County Roscommon connection at the 32nd World University Games, which are taking place in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany this week.
In what is the first time for an Irish table tennis team to compete at the Games, the team are being managed by Dublin native, Marcus McDonnell, who is now a member of St. Michael’s GAA Club in North Roscommon.
More than 8,500 athletes and officials from over 100 countries have travelled to the largest metropolitan region in Germany to compete in 18 sports over ten days in what is expected to be one of the largest multi-sport competitions held in 2025.
In a post on social media, St. Michael’s GAA Club wished Marcus and his team every success.
