Following their county senior final success, Maigh Cuilinn paid tribute to the late Don Connellan.

The Kilmore manager previously guided Maigh Cuilinn to their first Galway senior football crown in 2020. A second title followed in 2022 along with a provincial crown.

After Maigh Cuilinn defeated Salthill/Knocknacarra 1-17 to 1-15 in last Saturday’s county final, captain David Wynne paid tribute to Mr. Connellan.

“I need to mention one of the most important and influential men in the history of Moycullen GAA, Don Connellan.

“Don did so much for so many and this group of players are forever indebted to him.

“To Linda, Eoin and Conor, the extended Connellan and Clancy families, you should be so proud of the legacy that Don left behind him.

“He gave us so much more than medals and cups, but evenings like tonight would not happen without the influence and sacrifice made by that great man.

“Thank you so much Don.”

Galway captain Sean Kelly told Galway GAA TV that their former manager was looking over them.

“Thankfully someone was looking down on us. We are delighted to get over the line for him and also for everyone that has helped Maigh Cuilinn along the way so just delighted to be here.”
