Roscommon have set up a promotion shootout against Donegal at King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park in less than two weeks’ time after seeing off Fermanagh at Brewster Park, Enniskillen, on Sunday afternoon.

Brian Hanley’s charges hit five first-half goals against the Ernesiders to register their fourth win of the campaign, and keep their promotion hopes very much alive, albeit another average second-half performance will need to be addressed ahead of Saturday week’s big test.

Wicklow’s impressive 0-21 to 0-14 against Donegal in Letterkenny earlier in the day means that Roscommon will miss out on promotion to Division Two unless they register a win or a draw in their final game — on the presumption that Wicklow will account for Louth on the final day.

The visitors made a sluggish start in Enniskillen, trailing by 0-7 to 0-1 after only eight minutes.

However, a goal from Cian Murray settled them, and further green flags from Conor Morris, a rapid-fire double from Seán Canning and, a fifth goal from captain Conor Mulry catapulted the Rossies into what looked like an unassailable 5-11 to 0-13 interval advantage.

Roscommon brought on Mikey Moran, Brian Mannion and Josh Spain at half time, and were content to keep the scoreboard ticking over, thanks to some eyecatching efforts from Paddy Fallon.

Danann McKeogh, from a 21-yard free, and Seán Corrigan did pull a couple of goals back for the Ernesiders but they had left themselves with too much to do, even though they outscored their opponents by 2-9 to 0-7 during the second period.
