The University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome has returned to the Bekan skyline, 495 days after it was destroyed by Storm Éowyn.
On Tuesday morning, Connacht GAA confirmed that the new dome had been inflated, describing it was a "momentous day" for the GAA in the province.
On January 24th, 2025, the dome was destroyed by high winds at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence just outside Ballyhaunis.
Connacht GAA CEO, John Prenty, vowed that the Dome would be rebuilt. It was subsequently manufactured in Slovenia and was transported to Bekan earlier this year.
The Dome had become renowned for hosting underage and schools' game, especially during the height of winter. It also played host to the FBD League.
The Dome contains a full-size GAA pitch and can transform into a venue for exhibitions, concerts and conferences.
At the crack of dawn this morning, 495 days since Storm Eowyn, the University of Galway Connacht GAA AirDome was inflated again!
