Murtagh expected to be fit for All-Ireland quarter-final

Diarmuid Murtagh with Roscommon supporter, Paddy Joe Burke, following Saturday evening's two-point victory against Tyrone at O'Neills Healy Park.

Key Roscommon forward, Diarmuid Murtagh, is in line to be fit for next weekend's All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals in Croke Park.

Murtagh, who is enjoying a stellar season in the Primrose and Blue, limped out of the action during the dying embers of Saturday evening's 0-14 to 0-12 victory against Tyrone at O'Neills Healy Park.

There were fears that the St. Faithleach's player may have tweaked his hamstring, which would have left him in a race against time to be fit for next weekend's action.

But manager Davy Burke allayed concerns about Murtagh's fitness afterwards, saying that his vice-captain was suffering from cramp and was withdrawn as a precaution.

After his Player of the Match performance against Cavan, which saw him hit 1-6, Murtagh was, once again, hugely influential for the Rossies against Tyrone, finishing as the team's joint top scorer alongside Donie Smith with 0-4.
