Roscommon GAA mourns 'true Rossie' who loved his county

The late Tommy Rock followed the Rossies all over Ireland.

One of County Roscommon’s most loyal GAA supporters will be laid to rest this weekend.

Thomas (Tommy) Rock, formerly of Balgaddy and late of Runnaboll, Ballinameen, Boyle, passed away peacefully at St. James's Hospital, Dublin, on February 23rd.

Tommy was described as a “true Rossie” — following his beloved county through the good and the bad times. He rarely, if ever, missed a Roscommon match.

“Tommy was a mighty character who was always a pleasure to meet. His support for Roscommon football was unbelievable. You would be always guaranteed to meet Tommy at every Roscommon match, be it from Cork to Donegal, Dublin to Mayo and everywhere in between and especially in Dr Hyde Park, Tommy was always there,” said Roscommon GAA Chairperson, Brian Carroll.

Beloved husband of the late Bridget and pre-deceased by his parents Bernard and Kathleen and his brother Benny, Tommy will be dearly missed by his loving daughter Catherine, son Andrew, grandson Finn and his dad James, brother Padraig (Dublin), sisters Agnes Gannon (Kilmore), Marian Keenehan (Boyle), and Kathleen Wynne (London), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 8th at 11 a.m. in The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clondalkin Village, followed by burial in Palmerstown Cemetery.

May he Rest In Peace.
