One of Davy Burke’s selectors has been installed as joint-favourite for the vacant Meath senior football post.
Lar Wall, who joined the Roscommon management team at the start of last season, has been installed as the 11/8 joint-favourite by BoyleSports to replace Colm O’Rourke in the Royal County’s hotseat.
It was confirmed on Sunday that the Meath Management Committee would be seeking a replacement for O’Rourke who is stepping aside after two years at the helm of a side that he led to Tailteann Cup success in 2023.
Former Laois footballer, Wall, is the joint-favourite to replace O'Rourke alongside Kilmacud Crokes manager, Robbie Brennan.
The duo met in the 2023 Leinster club final when Wall’s The Downs side lost out to Crokes, but the oddsmakers can’t separate the pair in this off-field clash.
Former Mayo player, Andy Moran, who has recently stepped down after three years in charge of Leitrim, is also fancied at 9/2.
"Robbie Brennan and Lar Wall have gone head-to-head on the pitch before and are locked together as favourites to take the hotseat with the Royals, but Cathal Ó Bric has worked wonders with Meath’s U-20s and plenty of punters think he is the right man for the job,” said Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports.
