Ahead of this Sunday’s Connacht semi final between Roscommon and Galway, we take a look at the key details before this crunch showdown.
Roscommon and Galway will meet this Sunday in Pearse Stadium. The contest will commence at 4 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster by clicking here or from selected Centra and SuperValu stores.
Yes, the game will be broadcast live by RTÉ and RTÉ Player.
Neither side enter this contest in sterling form. Roscommon recovered from their league final reversal to easily account for London. Meanwhile, Galway went winless in their last three league games, which cost them a place in the Division One league final.
Padraic Joyce’s men bounced back with a facile 3-28 to 0-20 win over New York but there was slight concern over the fitness of John Maher who limped out of that contest.
Both Davy Burke and Padraic Joyce have named their starting XVs for this Sundays showdown.
On the Roscommon side, Brian Stack has been named to start his first game since mid February while Daire Cregg returns to the matchday 26. From the win over London, Ronan Daly, Niall Higgins, Stack and Shane Cunnane come into the team in place of Pearse Frost, John McManus, Dylan Ruane and Keith Doyle.
For Galway, Shane Walsh has not been named in the squad while Damien Comer has been selected on the bench. Despite worries over his ankle, John Maher has been named to start..
Sean Hurson from Tyrone is the man in the middle for this contest. He was in charge of Roscommon v Mayo in last year’s Connacht Championship and more recently was in charge when Davy Burke’s men lost out to Cavan in this year’s league.
Hurson took charge of the 2024 All Ireland final in which Armagh defeated Galway. This was the second time he took charge of the All Ireland final as he was also in charge in 2022 when Kerry overcame Galway. He has also refereed the All-Ireland Minor Final in 2018, U-20 All-Ireland Final in 2021 and All-Ireland Senior Club Final in 2022.
