Liam Lawson to replace Isack Hadjar at Dutch Grand Prix
Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson will step in for the injured Red Bull Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar and compete in Sunday's Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, the organization âannounced Wednesday.
"Isack Hadjar has sustained a wrist injury during summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 âDutch GP," Red Bull said in a statement. "We will â be welcoming back Liam Lawson who will replace him in âRB22 this weekend.
"The team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam â for stepping in âon short notice."
Lawson, a 24-year-old âfrom New Zealand, made his debut at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and âhas 46 career F1 starts.
Lawson stepping back up â to Red Bull â means âYuki Tsunoda will slot in at Racing Bulls next to rookie Arvid Lindblad. Tsunoda, who lost his Red Bull seat to Hadjar at the end of last year, serves as a reserve driver for both Red Bull squads.
"We thank both â Liam and Yuki for their adaptability as the teams prepare for the weekend and we wish Isack a speedy recovery," Racing Bulls said in âa statement.
Hadjar, 21, resides in eighth âplace in the current F1 standings with three top-five finishes in 11 starts. - Reuters
