Connemara Blue Connacht LGFA Minor A Football Championship Final

Roscommon have been crowned Connacht LGFA Minor A champions following a dramatic victory against Mayo in Tuam Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Barely a week after the county U-20 men's footballers savoured provincial silverware at the same venue, Trevor Clohessy's side edged out a pulsating battle, with Georgia Gerrity hitting the winner to procure a dramatic one-point victory.

Roscommon made a bright start, hitting the game's first four scores. Mayo replied but Vivienne Gannon's goal helped her side lead 1-7 to 0-7 at the break.

Tension and drama were palpable in the second half, and a Mayo goal in the 44th minute brought them level before they hit the front.

But Roscommon refused to be denied, and it was left to Gerrity to score the winner in injury-time to hand the game a huge boost in the county and secure the Rossies' first A title at this level since 1992.
