Roscommon’s Aoibheann Reilly has been named as a replacement for Ireland’s opening Six Nations game against France this Saturday.

Creagh native Reilly suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury last June, which ruled her out of competing at the Olympic Games with the Irish women’s sevens team.

Despite this being her second ACL injury in her career, Reilly has battled back once more.

After lining out with the Clovers in the Celtic Challenge tournament, she has been named on the bench for the showdown at Belfast’s Kingspan Stadium.

The former Pádraig Pearses and Roscommon U-16 ladies' footballer is an integral part of the Ireland squad after starting all five games in last year’s tournament.

This is an important campaign for Ireland as they try and consolidate last year’s third place finish and build momentum ahead of the World Cup, which commences in August.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 1 p.m. and is live on Virgin Media One and BBC Northern Ireland, while there is live radio commentary available on RTÉ Radio 1.
