CAMOGIE: The U-14 girls recorded a fantastic win against a strong St. Dominic’s team on Saturday to take home the Roscommon U-14 1B title. Well done to all the girls and their coaches. The minor team will be up against St. Dominic’s in the Division 1B final on September 1st in Abbey Park at 6.45 p.m..
LGFA NEWS: The U-16 girls will play their Division One final on September 3rd against Clann na nGael (venue and time to be confirmed). The Junior B ladies are up against Clann na nGael on September 4th in Johnstown at 8 p.m.. The U-14 girls will take on Clann na nGael in their Division 1A final on September 6th (venue and time to be confirmed).
UNDERAGE FOOTBALL: The U-14 Division Five team will play their quarter-final against Kilglass/St. Barry’s on September 1st in Abbey Community College Pitch, Boyle, at 6.30 p.m.. The U-16 Division Four boys take on Oran/St. Croans on September 2nd in Enfield at 6.30 p.m.. The U-14 Division One boys play their Sheild semi-final against Roscommon Gaels in the Abbey Park on September 3rd at 6.30 p.m.. The Minor Division Three semi-final takes place on September 3rd against St. Aidan’s in Ballyforan at 7 p.m.. Support for all Boyle teams would be appreciated.

MARTIN DUGGAN STAND: The Martin Duggan Stand was officially named at half time during the senior championship game on Saturday. Martin was the driving force behind the construction of the stand. The stand and press box are a facility that is the envy of many clubs. The club thanks Martin for his vision and support.
CONGRATULATIONS: The club would like to congratulate former player Fintan Carty and his wife Fiona who got married in Adare last Friday. Wishing them health and happiness into the future.
SENIOR FOOTBALLERS: Well done the senior football team who recorded a one-point win over St. Faithleach’s in the third round of the championship in Orchard Park (see match report, page 6). They have progressed to the preliminary quarter-finals where they will play Michael Glaveys (time and date to be confirmed).
UNDERAGE NEWS: Hard luck to the Elphin/Ballinameen minor team who lost out to St. Dominic’s in the quarter-final of the championship. Thank you to the management and players for their commitment and effort. Well done to the U-12 team who had a great game against St. Michael’s/St. Ronan’s last week. ORCHARD PARK: The club would like to thank all of its generous sponsors and supporters for the incredible backing they have given the Orchard Park Project. UNDERAGE SEMI-FINALS: The minor footballers play St. Dominic’s in their Division Two championship semi-final on Wednesday evening in Kilbride. The U-14s take on St. Michael’s/St. Ronan’s in Kilbride on Thursday evening in their semi-final at 7 p.m.. Best of luck to all three teams. Support for these teams would be appreciated.
QUARTER-FINALS: The U-14 footballers defeated Pádraig Pearses by 4-14 to 0-6 in their quarter-final in Kilbride on Thursday evening. The winners started strongly and carried that momentum throughout the first half, with excellent scores from Senan Lohan, Dara Feely and Tadgh Lohan. Leading by 3-7 to 0-5 at the break, Kilbride continued to run at the Pearses defence, creating scoring opportunities that were well-taken by Shay Molloy and James O'Neill. The minor footballers got the better of St. Ciaran’s/Tulsk, 2-14 to 2-4, in their quarter-final in Kilbride on Tuesday evening. A well-taken goal from Brendan Tully just before the break gave Kilbride a commanding lead. St. Ciaran’s/Tulsk attempted to mount a comeback and eventually got off the mark with a point from a free, but Kilbride responded immediately through a fine score from Luke Hayes. Any hopes of a comeback were ended when Jake Donlon found the net for Kilbride’s second goal, putting the result beyond doubt.
JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS: The junior footballers advanced to the championship quarter-finals with a comprehensive 6-17 to 0-07 victory over St. Brigid’s C. The home side made a solid start and gradually took control of proceedings. Early scores from Oísin O’Beirne and Marc Shally helped Kilbride settle into the game before a well-taken goal from John Donnelly gave them a firm foothold. Further points from Cormac Naughton, Kevin Battles and O’Beirne ensured Kilbride remained on top throughout the opening half. A goal from Michael Devine shortly before the break put Kilbride in a strong position, and they went in at half time leading by 2-10 to 0-5. Kilbride continued to dictate matters after the restart, maintaining their intensity and defensive discipline. Scores from Oísin O’Beirne and Alan Merriman kept the scoreboard ticking over before the game opened up in the final quarter. Goals from Izidro Ribas, Josh McCormack and two more from Michael Devine put the result beyond doubt. Michael Devine finished as Kilbride’s top scorer with an impressive return of 3-1, while Oísin O’Beirne contributed seven points in an accomplished team performance.

LGFA: It’s a busy week for the Kilglass/Kilmore ladies in their championship. They were due to play St. Faithleach’s on Monday evening. They are also away to Castlerea on Sunday at 11 a.m.. COUNTY CHAMPIONS: The club congratulates its U-14 girls’ team who are Division Two Championship winners after defeating Roscommon Gaels 7-7 to 3-7 in a thrilling final in Enfield last Monday. This caps a brilliant year for this group of girls who claimed the Division Three League title earlier in the summer. Well done to all the girls involved on the panel and a special thank you to the management team of John Duggan, Michael O'Shaughnessy, Olivia Duggan and Louise O'Shaughnessy for everything throughout the year.

The U-8 and U-10 hurlers had a fantastic day on Saturday at the monster underage hurling blitz in Hyde Park. It was a fantastic opportunity for the club’s young hurlers to show the skills they have learned this year. The senior ladies’ team bounced back from their defeat against St. Brigid’s to record a six-point win against Shannon Gaels in Tarmonbarry on Thursday evening. They will play Clann na nGael in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile the intermediate men’s team were defeated by St. Dominic’s in Strokestown on Friday evening (see match report, page 8).
UNDERAGE NEWS: Two teams were involved in underage quarter-finals last week. The minors hosted Clann na nGael on Tuesday, and the sides finished level, after normal time, following a hugely entertaining hour of football. With scores at a premium in extra time, a Clann goal proved crucial and they held out for a hard-fought two-point win. The U-14 lads played St. Michael’s/St. Ronan's in their Division Two quarter-final on Thursday. A close game resulted in a narrow one-point defeat on a scoreline of 3-7 to 4-5. Hard luck lads and well done on a good campaign. The U-16 Division Four lads enjoyed a good home win against Clann on Friday evening. It’s a big week for the U-16 girls’ team who play St. Faithleach’s in the Division 2B final in Ballyleague on Thursday evening.

MARGARET BRENNAN, RIP: The club marks the passing of one of the community’s most senior and respected citizens, Mrs Margaret Brennan, and join with her family and friends in giving thanks for a long life well-lived.
