Local Notes: Knockcroghery car wash fundraiser, wedding and November rosaries

The marriage took place on Saturday, October 21st at the Church of Mary Immaculate, Rahara between Lisa Murray, daughter of Mrs Elise Murray, and the late Jimmy Murray, Ganaveens, Rahara, and Ian Kelly, son of Lauranne and Seamus Kelly, Crossmolina. The bride was given away by her brother, Thomas. The ceremony with Nuptial Mass was performed by Very Reverend Fr Ray Milton, PP Knockcroghery, St. John’s and Rahara and also Very Reverend Fr. Des Kelly, Crossmolina, uncle of the groom. The maid of honour was Zara Lenihan, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Trisha McDermott, friend of the bride and Eimear Carney, cousin of the bride. Best man was Robert Kelly, brother of the groom. Groomsman was Eoghan Coughlan, friend of the groom. Flower girls were Fiadh Ridly and Caoimhe Jennings, both cousins of the bride. Page boys were Luke Kelly and Harry Kelly, both nephews of the groom. The gifts were brought to the altar by both mothers, Elsie and Lauranne. The lessons were read by Patricia Farrell, aunt of the bride, and Adrienne Walsh, aunt of the groom. The communion reflection was rendered by Jane Kelly, sister of the groom. The reception was held at Kilronan Castle, Ballyfarnon. The bride and groom are both pharmacists. Congratulations and best wishes to Lisa and Ian for a long and happy married life together. The church music and hymns were provided by Aileen O’Connor, Jordan O’Connor, and Alastair Beegan.

NOVEMBER ROSARIES 

Rosary will be offered up in St. John’s ancient cemetery on November 26th at 2.30 p.m.. The cemetery is close to Rinn Duin Castle, St. John’s. The rosary will also be offered up in Kilcommin Cemetery an hour later at 3.30 p.m.. The entry to Kilcommin Cemetery is off the Ballybrogan Road. Note: a sign is on the cemetery gate.

BEREAVED 

The Killion family has been bereaved by the death of their father John Killion of Clooncagh, Ballymurray, and the Brennan family by the death of their mother Maggie Brennan, Clooncraff, Kilteevan. John and Mollie were brother and sister. John passed away peacefully at his home in Clooncagh, Ballymurray on Sunday November 5th surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen and brother of the late Christopher, and recently deceased siter Maggie Brennan, Clooncraff, Kilteevan. He will now be very sadly missed by his three daughters, Mary, Carmel and Elaine, sister Mary (USA), brother Tommie (USA), sons-in-law Alan McCormack and Kieran Cassidy, sisters-in-law, his much loved five grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, and neighbours. John reposed at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon with removal from his home at Clooncagh, arriving at St. Joseph’s Church, Kilteevan for Mass of the Resurrection with burial afterwards in Kilteevan cemetery. His sister Margaret (Maggie) Brennan, Clooncraff, Kilteevan passed away peacefully on October 25th with her family by her side in the devoted care of the staff at Innie Ree Lodge, Ballyleague. Beloved wife of the late Christopher. She will be missed by her loving son Hugh, daughter Mary Tully, sister Mary Armstrong (USA), brother Tommie (USA), daughter-in-law Rhoda, son-in-law Colm, her adored six grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, and many friends. Mary reposed at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon with removal from her home, arriving at St. Joseph’s Church Kilteevan for Mass of the Resurrection. Burial took place afterwards in Kilteevan cemetery. May Maggie and John rest in peace. Sympathy is extended to the Brennan and Killion families on their sad loss. May they both rest in peace.
