Frenchpark Tidy Towns will hold its National Clean-up Day from 9 a.m. to 12noon on Saturday, April 18th next, meeting up at the picnic benches out on the Tulsk Road (N5) at 9 am.. The committee would love to have people join in in taking care of the community spaces. No sign-up required. Just turn up on the day. (If you have gloves and a hi-vis please bring them, but don’t worry if you don’t). Looking forward to seeing you there.

Roscommon Dementia Alliance hosts a monthly café at Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle to help support people affected by dementia, their families and carers. This month's café takes place on Wednesday, April 15th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will include music, song, advice and a chat. The death occurred peacefully of Mr James Hussey, Carrowgarriffe, Tibohine and formerly of Cabra West, Dublin on Wednesday, April 8th last at the Oakwood Nursing Home in Ballaghaderreen. Jimmy (97) was predeceased by his wife Margaret in May 2021. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his son, Jim; grandchildren, Sean, Dean and Jan; daughter-in-law, Yardena; extended family, neighbours and friends. His remains were removed to the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Cabra on Tuesday, April 14th last for Mass of the Resurrection, followed by interment in Glasnevin Cemetery, BEREAVEMENTS Pray for the repose of the souls of Mr Padraig Dooley, late of Rathcroghan, Ballinagare; Mrs Ann Marie Kelly, Oranmore, County Galway (niece of Bernadette Durr, Ballyconboy, Ballinagare); Mr Tom Byrne, Knockroe, Castlerea & McHale Road, Castlebar; Mrs Mary Gallagher, Kilmovee, County Mayo and Mr Frank Giblin, Aughalustia, Ballaghaderreen. May they rest in peace.

Western Gaels held its weekly lottery draw on Saturday, April 11th last. There was no jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 1, 7, 19 and 21. The next draw (jackpot €3,200) will take place at the clubhouse in Frenchpark on this Saturday, April 18th. Tickets are available on-line through the Clubforce app or from local outlets.

The next meeting of the County Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Society will take place on Tuesday, April 14th in the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre from 8 p.m.. All members are invited to attend the meeting – new members are welcome. The month’s talk will be given by a good friend of the society, Dr. Kieran O’Conor of the University of Galway Archaeology Department, who will give a lecture on the history of Roscommon Abbey.
Preparations are well underway in Tulsk for a milestone weekend of celebrations to mark the official opening of the new playing facility and walkway. ‘The Tulsk Hooley’ will take place from Friday, May 29th to Monday, June 1st (the June Bank Holiday Weekend) which promises to be a weekend to remember. Underage blitzes, legends matches, team reunions, official opening ceremony and a grand finale are just some of the highlights planned. Evening entertainment will be hosted in a marquee in the village. Members of Tulsk GAA are inviting friends and supporters near and far to join in the celebrations and reconnect with former clubmates and old friends.
Tulsk Camogie Club and indeed the wider community wish to commiserate with junior player Grace Jones and her colleagues on the Roscommon junior camogie team who had a narrow loss to Armagh in their Division 3A decider in Abbotstown on Saturday.
Tulsk Community Games annual sports day takes place in Tulsk GAA grounds on Bank Holiday Monday, May 4th from 1.30 p.m.. Featured on the day will be track races, novelty races and a range of field events. The day is always a sporting and social highlight in the local community that is not to be missed.
The society’s AGM took place on Friday night in Tulsk. It was a good positive meeting with the chairperson's report given by Eileen Beirne, and secretary, Mike Lennon, gave an extensive report on all proceedings over the last 12 months. Noel Sheerin gave a comprehensive treasurer's Report. We all look forward to a positive year ahead. The committee remains in place from last year. For this year - chairperson - Eileen Beirne; vice chair - John Higgins; secretary - Mike Lennon; treasurer - Noel Sheerin; PRO & archivist - Jody Moylan and website administrator - Marese Feeney. The draw has been made for this year's Intermediate Football Championship. The club’s PB Networks sponsored Intermediate team have been drawn in Group A with St Dominics, St Barry's and St Brigid’s B. The club is hosting a full weekend of activities, including the official opening of the new training pitch, on the June Bank Holiday weekend. Fun for all ages. The sympathies of the entire local community are extended to the Dooley family on the passing of Padraig Dooley of Westport, formerly of Crossmolina, and Rathcroghan, Tulsk. The deceased was a former member of An Garda Síochána who passed away on April 1st last. The deceased will have been known by many in the local community for his friendly and pleasant disposition and his interest in Gaelic Games and his passing will be deeply felt by all those who knew him. The late Padraig Dooley is predeceased by his parents, Joe and Kathleen. The deceased was father to Joe, Orla and Caroline; father-in-law to Maura, grandfather to Mai, Fiadh and Tadhg, brother to Mary, Martha (Gregory) and Joe. The deceased will also be sadly missed by his partner Pauline Gibbons, her daughter Laura Coy, and son David as well as by his sister-in-law Orla, brother-in-law Steve, his nieces, nephew, relatives and friends. The deceased was removed to the Church of SS Eithne and Fidelma, Tulsk arriving for Funeral Mass followed by burial afterwards in Tulsk Cemetery. Tulsk GAA Club has also extended sincere sympathy to the Dooley family on the sad passing of Padraig recently. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis. May he rest in peace.

Tulsk U-14 boys have their league campaign underway after two good wins against Clan na Gael B and Roscommon Gaels B in recent weeks. The club’s next game is against St Faithleachs in Tulsk on this Thursday, the April 16th – please check fixtures for time of this game.
