The death occurred peacefully in her 95th year surrounded by her devoted family on Sunday, March 15th of Mrs Nora McDermott (née Gaffney), Willsbrook, Castlerea. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Annie, her beloved husband Paddy, infant sister Bernadette, her twin sister Una, sisters Mary, Nacy and Breda, brothers, Tom, Michael and James. She worked hard in her younger days with her husband to care for the family, a family they adored as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a good neighbour who always had time for people. She was also a woman of great faith and had a great devotion to Our Lady of Knock. Nora will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, her daughter Jacinta (Colleran, Castlerea) and her son John (Dublin), grandchildren, Peter, Shane (Josie), Jamie, Marc, Daniel, Emma, Zara and Jack, great grandchildren Noah and Sophie, son-in-law, James, sister-in-law, Rose, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Congratulations to Cloonfad United who defeated Galway Hibernians in the semi-final of the Connacht FA junior played in Lavallyroe on Sunday last. This was a super performance from the team who led by four nil at half time and held on to that lead until the final whistle. They got off to the perfect start with a goal from the penalty spot after two minutes, scored by Michael McGarry after Darragh Flynn was fouled inside the penalty area. Then after six minutes Jarlath Carney added a second with a brilliant 35 yard drive. The third came after 14 minutes when Andrew Glennon's cross was headed home by Jack Madden. Jack scored again at 39 minutes with a brilliant individual effort. The home team held on to this lead in the second half thanks to some great defending especially by Shane O’Malley and Andrew Glennon. After this wonderful performance the players, management and supporters can look forward to the final on April 9th/10th where they will meet Ballymote Celtic. Thanks to the Three Counties pub for the reception for the team after the game.
