Deadline for filing Local Property Tax returns extended

The Local Property Tax deadline has been extended until Wednesday, November 12th.

People still filling in their Local Property Tax (LPT) returns for the 2026-2030 valuation period have been granted an extra few days to complete their returns.

Revenue has confirmed that the deadline for filing returns has been extended to Wednesday next, November 12th, at 5.30 p.m..

Provisional filing figures show that LPT Returns received amounts to approximately 1.4 million properties — 42,202 of returns filed today (Friday, November 7th) as at 2 p.m.; 78,418 returns on November 6th, and 66,198 returns on November 5th.

This represents approximately 140,000 more returns filed than at the same stage in the 2022 revaluation cycle, which Revenue states is clear evidence that there is strong momentum.

Revenue understands that the LPT revaluation and filing process can cause uncertainty for some property owners, especially as this is the first revaluation since 2021. The extended deadline aims to provide additional time to meet obligations.

Property owners are reminded that LPT is a self-assessed tax, and it is important to carefully determine the current market value of one’s property as of November 1st, 2025, before submitting their return.

Revenue’s LPT Helpline (01 7383626) continues to experience high demand, handling around 7,000 calls every day.

Revenue’s LPT Helpline will operate extended opening hours in the lead-up to the new deadline: Monday, November 10th between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.; Tuesday, November 11th between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., and Wednesday, November 12th between 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m..

Property owners are encouraged to submit returns online via myAccount, ROS, or the LPT Online Portal.
