Watch as Mardi Gras parade attracts the crowds to Castlerea

A Mardi Gras parade took place through the streets of Castlerea this evening Saturday as the town's Rose Festival got underway.
The opening parade of large inflatable figures included lots of familiar characters like Spiderman, Batman, Buzz Lightyear and plenty of dinosaurs.
A whole host of events will take place during the nine days, with something for all the family, including a family movie night.
“The festival is open to everyone. You don’t have to be from Castlerea - wherever you live in Roscommon, you are welcome to come along,” said chairman Paschal Fitzmaurice.
The events for Sunday get underway with a Run With The Roses on Sunday morning.
