The INEC Killarney will welcome the cream of GAA cultural talent on Saturday, January 24th, as the All-Ireland Scór na nÓg finals take centre stage.

Clubs from across the country have qualified through local, county and provincial rounds of the hugely popular U-17 competition, leaving four clubs remaining in each of the eight Scór disciplines to battle it out in an effort to bring the All-Ireland titles, and coveted Celtic Cross medals, back to their localities.

While the Rossies will battle it out against Kerry in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, on Sunday next, the county will have exceptional representation in the INEC on Saturday, having won three titles at the Connacht Scór na nÓg finals.

First up for Roscommon will be Gemma Casey from St. Dominic’s in the Solo Singing category. Gemma is a very experienced young singer who will be making her third appearance at the All-Ireland level of Scór na nÓg.

Having won this title in 2024, Gemma will no doubt relish the chance to continue her club’s proud Scór tradition in Killarney and bring a tenth national title back to Knockcroghery with her beautiful singing of the great Roscommon song, “The Ballad of O’Carolan Country”.

Pádraig Pearses GAA Club has always embraced and promoted Scór over the decades, and the 2025/2026 season saw its most recent efforts come to rich fruition.

Miriam Darcy has enjoyed a tremendous final year in Scór na nÓg, claiming a first county and subsequent provincial crown in Recitation/Storytelling. Her delivery of “My Darling Sarah” — a self-penned piece — has delighted audiences and adjudicators alike.

Miriam will have a busy day, however, as she will take to the stage again in the Novelty Act discipline where she will be joined by her clubmates Ailbhe Glynn Desmond and Katie Grenham, Kate Killeen Lyons, Kate Killeen, Aoibhín Seale, Erin Arru and Oisín Murphy. They will hope that their performance of “Mythological Love”, will continue to delight and entertain on the national stage.

Pádraig Pearses last appeared at All-Ireland Scór na nÓg level in 2014 in the Novelty Act event in Castlebar. In 2010, Grace Dooley represented the club in Recitation when the finals were held in Athlone. Will a first national Scór title make its way to the South Roscommon club this year?

In the Tráth na gCeisteanna Boird (Question Time), the county will be ably represented by the Kilglass Gaels team of Domhnaill Diffley, Rory Conroy, Daniel Fallon and Oisín Reynolds.

These young men continue their club’s unequalled national record of participation and success in this event. Kilglass Gaels remains the only club in Ireland to win three All-Ireland Tráth na gCeisteanna titles in succession, winning four national crowns within five years between 2004 and 2008.

Coiste Scór Ros Comáin wishes all of its fantastic competitors every good wish for the finals as they represent their club, county and province. The efforts of their clubs and families in getting them to this top level are to be commended.

Most importantly, it is hoped that they enjoy this very special occasion and do Roscommon proud.

Anyone who wishes to view the competition live can do so through the TG4 YouTube channel. The event commences at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 24th.
