Roscommon U-20 football manager, Noel Dunning, has hailed his substitutes for turning things around against Galway and earning a third draw of the campaign in Dr. Hyde Park yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Trailing by a point at half time, having played with the aid of a tricky breeze, Roscommon appeared to be in trouble. But the arrival of players like Ryan Dowling, Ryan Conlon, Oisín O’Flaherty, Ethan O’Reilly and Niall O’Donnell to buttress the late changes, which saw James Connolly and Daniel Hagney, come into the starting 15, made a big difference in according to the manager.

“There’s no point having a talented bench if you’re not going to use it when you need it. These lads know they’re going to get an opportunity.

“When you see these lads train, it’s no accident that they make an impact on the pitch. They work hard and they leave everything out there. It doesn’t surprise me what they show in terms of character,” he said.

Roscommon head for Ballinamore next Wednesday to face in-form Leitrim where a first win of the campaign, or a fourth draw, would be good enough to see Dunning’s side reach the knockout stages.
