There will be plenty of County Roscommon interest in this Saturday’s Leinster Schools’ A football final between Marist College, Athlone, and Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar.
Roscommon players Zac Mullally, John Timlin (Clann na nGael); Tadhg Fallon — younger brother of Roscommon defender Ruaidhrí — and Seán McDonnell (St. Brigid’s); Andrew Cotton and Aidan Brennan (St. Dominic’s) were involved in the Marist’s thrilling 4-14 to 3-15 semi-final victory against Ardee CS.
Marist midfielder Donal Dawson is a native of Knockcroghery, while Diarmuid O’Higgins, who was part of last season's Connacht-winning Roscommon minor football panel, missed the game through injury.
There are also a number of other players from Roscommon clubs involved on the Marist panel that will be hoping to become the first team from the school to win the Br. Bosco Cup.
Meanwhile, St. Faithleach’s senior footballer Brian Murtagh is part of the Coláiste Mhuire management team.
The Mullingar-based school, who are the reigning champions, will be led by the prolific Will Scahill in attack.
Will’s father, David Scahill, is a former Castlerea St. Kevin’s footballer and has been part of the Roscommon Masters football team in recent years.
