Pádraig Pearses’ Eoin Colleran has been named on the Higher Education Rising Stars Football Team of the Year.

The Roscommon forward was integral in the University of Galway progressing through to the Sigerson Cup semi final. The inter county forward tallied 3-18 across the University of Galway’s run to the semi final stage.

Colleran was the highest scoring player from open play in this season’s campaign.

He showed his class by kicking 1-8 in an epic win for the University of Galway over ATU Sligo in a do or die round two showdown.

From there, Colleran continued to impress and finished as his side’s top scorer in their semi final defeat to UCC.

This year’s competition culminated with University of Limerick (UL) securing their first-ever Sigerson Cup title by defeating Munster rivals UCC by 0-17 to 1-11. This final marked the Sigerson Cup's return to Croke Park for the first time in over 40 years.

As a result, UL dominate the team of the year with seven players included while beaten finalists UCC see four players selected. University of Galway have two players chosen with Sligo’s Canice Mulligan getting the nod alongside Colleran.

Queen’s University Belfast also have two inclusions.
