One of County Roscommon’s top referees will be part of the team of officials for this year’s All-Ireland senior football final.

Paddy Neilan will be one of the line umpires for Sunday week’s meeting between Galway and Armagh at Croke Park.

Brendan Cawley from Kildare will be other line umpire and is also the standby referee. The match will be refereed by Seán Hurson from Tyrone who took charge of Roscommon’s Connacht championship clash against Mayo earlier this year.

Derek O’Mahony from Tipperary will be the sideline official.

It is Neilan’s second time in three years to be part of the officiating team for one of the biggest days in Irish sport, having been standby referee for Kerry’s narrow victory over Galway in 2022.

Earlier this year, he returned from a foot injury and has taken charge of a number of league and championship games, including the All-Ireland U-20 football final between Tyrone and Kerry in Portlaoise and the All-Ireland SFC group game between Tyrone and Cork in Tullamore.
