County Roscommon athlete Emily Clyne was among the rising stars of Irish athletics that were celebrated at the 2025 Juvenile All-Star Awards in the Mullingar Park Hotel on April 18th.

The awards recognised the exceptional achievements of juvenile athletes throughout the 2025 season, underlining the remarkable depth and quality of emerging talent in Irish athletics across track, field, and cross-country disciplines.

Emily, who won the County Roscommon award, is a member of Reeside Athletic Club. She has been involved in athletics since she was seven years old, trying multiple events such as hurdles, sprints, and long jump.

However, it is her recent focus on the high jump that has brought her such great success. She is coached by her mother Laura and high jump specialist Mike Tobin from Craughwell AC.

Her ambition for 2026 is to continue recording PBs and to one day wear an Irish vest and represent her country.

Last year was a standout season year for Emily. She won three national medals — a bronze in the All-Ireland Schools High Jump, a bronze in the U-16 High Jump at the AAI National Outdoor Championships, and a gold medal in the Community Games National Finals.

During the awards ceremony, President of Athletics Ireland, Bríd Golden, praised the young athletes for their dedication and success.

“It’s been a terrific year for our association, and in particular for our juvenile athletes. It makes me proud to see so many of our young athletes competing and succeeding at home and on the international stage,” she said.

Two-time European indoor champion David Gillick was in attendance and congratulated all the winners, alongside encouraging them to stay involved in the sport that has given him so much.

Individual Juvenile Star Awards were presented to athletes representing every county, reflecting the nationwide strength and diversity of talent within Irish athletics.
