One of the country’s most highly-rated rugby players has signed a contract extension with Connacht.
Darragh Murray has committed to the western province for another two years.
The Brideswell native, whose brother Niall is also an integral part of the Connacht squad alongside fellow Rossies Jack Carty, Denis Buckley and Colm Reilly, made his senior debut in 2022.
The 2023/2024 season has been a breakthrough campaign for the Roscommon man. He has made ten appearances this season, starting in eight of them, to bring his total number of appearances to 19.
Murray — a former St. Brigid’s and Roscommon underage footballer — is a product of the Connacht Academy. He came through the ranks of Buccaneers RFC, while he also captained the Connacht U-18s to the interpro title in 2018.
“Darragh has tons of potential, and with a two-year contract extension we’re confident he has all the tools to keep getting better.
“He’s an astute set piece operator and always give us huge energy around the field. I’m sure he’ll continue to add to his skillset and be a really valuable asset for the club long into the future,” said Head Coach Pete Wilkins.
