The line-up for this year’s Challenge Cup final has been confirmed following last weekend’s semi-finals.
St. John’s Athletic will play Glen Celtic following their respective semi-final successes at the Roscommon and District Football League Grounds, Lecarrow.
Goals from Simon Leonard and Cian Kelly handed St. John’s Athletic a 2-0 victory against Skyvalley Rovers.
Glen Celtic defeated Dunmore Town 3-2 in a thriller, thanks to goals from Ethan O’Dowd, Michael Heneghan and Gavin Hegarty.
The Glenamaddy-based side will be attempting to win their first Challenge Cup since 1998, while St. John’s have yet to win the blue riband competition of the RDFL.
St. John’s are also in contention for Premier Division honours after Moore United’s 3-0 victory against Boyle Celtic at Falty Park on Sunday.
The result scuppers Boyle Celtic’s chances of winning the title, which will be decided when St. John’s Athletic host Moore United in Lecarrow on Sunday week.
St. John’s need a victory to claim honours for the first time, while a win or a draw would confirm Moore United’s second Premier Division title in three years.
