The Glenamaddy Community School that progressed through to the FAI Schools Junior B Girls National Cup Final.

Glenamaddy Community School have progressed through to the FAI Schools Junior B Girls National Cup Final.

They defeated St. Peter’s Community School, Passage West 1-0 with Roscommon’s Aisling Kennedy netting the game winning goal.

Kennedy bagged the only goal of the contest in the seventh minute. 

She captained the school to the FAI Schools’ First Year B Girls National Cup Final last October while the talented soccer player made her debut with Galway United's U-17 girls team recently. 

The St. Croan’s clubwoman was part of Roscommon’s U-14 ladies football squad last year. 

Glenamaddy Community School went toe to toe with their Cork opponents as Ali O’Toole saw a ferocious effort his the post in the 18th minute. 

Meabh Deasy almost equalised after a neat team move but Glenamaddy CS goalkeeper Katie Forde was equal to the task.

O’Toole saw another effort find the side netting while Deasy’s attempted lob was denied by Forde. 

Brooke Manley saw a peach of a shot palmed away by Forde as Glenbamaddy CS held on.

Glenamaddy Community School will face Gaelcholáiste Reachrann, Domhnach Míde in the FAI Schools Junior ‘B’ Girls National Cup Final (Under 17, Small Schools) on Wednesday, February 26. 

The game will be played at Athlone Town AFC’s 4G pitch, kicking off at 1 p.m..
