HISTORIC WEEKEND: It was a weekend of high emotion and history for the club as both the junior and intermediate ladies' football teams took to the pitch for their respective finals. On Friday evening, Rocky’s Rebels battled with heart and grit in a thrilling encounter against St. Michael’s/St. Ronan’s that went all the way to extra time and, ultimately, to free kicks. In the cruellest of finishes, they lost by a single point (see match report, page 20). While the scoreboard didn’t reflect their effort, the Rebels gave everyone a performance to remember. It was especially meaningful, as so many players returned to the pitch in memory of Rochelle Mullaney — a powerful tribute that embodied the club's spirit. The club knows that Rochelle would have been incredibly proud. Sincere thanks to Mike Murray for inspiring and managing this incredible team, and to Alice Kelly, Eilish Hanly and Amanda Mullarkey for their unwavering support and leadership. In the intermediate shield final, Kilbride produced a determined and hard-fought effort, but St. Croan’s pulled away to secure the victory. A special moment on the day was seeing Kilbride LGFA Chairperson, Sandra Shanagher, back between the posts once again — not only playing in goals on Friday night for Rocky's Rebels but also lining out in the same position on Sunday morning for the intermediate team. What made it all the more memorable was that she played alongside her youngest daughter, Aisling, who captained the team this year — a proud and poignant moment for both family and club. A heartfelt thank you to the management team of Ollie Lennon, Padraig O’Beirne, Mick Tully, Mike Murray, and Flo Marie Neary.
UNDERAGE PRESENTATION EVENING: A large crowd of parents and children attended the annual presentation evening in Kilbride Community Centre on Sunday. The U-6 and U-8 boys and girls, along with the U-10 girls, received their well-deserved medals. Thanks to Lucy Scanlon, Lucia Taylor, and Emma Shally for serving tea and light refreshments to all the parents.
