The visit of St. Bernadette's relics to the Church of the Risen Christ in Kiltoom over the last two days marked the conclusion of a two month Irish visit.

The saint’s relics arrived at the South Roscommon church yesterday, Monday, and remained there until this afternoon before starting the journey back to Lourdes.

Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran celebrated Mass this morning as part of the farewell ceremony.

The saint’s relics were entrusted to the Bishop of Elphin on September 3rd at a special ceremony held at the Lourdes Grotto before they arrived in Knock Airport for the Irish visit.

Over the last two months, the relics of St. Bernadette visited each of the 26 dioceses across Ireland.

In 1858, fourteen year old Bernadette Soubirous witnessed multiple apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes. She was canonised as a saint in 1933.
