Victim of alleged Ballagh assault to be laid to rest next week

The victim of an alleged assault in Ballaghaderreen in the the early hours of New Year’s Day will be laid to rest next week in the UK.

Jorden Newin (39) passed away in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin after the alleged assault at Barrack Street in the town on January 1st.

The father-of-three’s funeral will be held next Tuesday, February 12th at the Garden Of England Crematorium in Sittingbourne, Kent.

A fundraising appeal set up to help cover his repatriation and funeral costs has raised more than £9,820 to date.

Yevhen Shutko, a Ukrainian national who has a County Roscommon address, has been charged with assault causing serious harm to Mr Newin under section 4 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act.
