ST. BARRY'S

32-32-32 FUNDRAISER FOR NICOLA: Four of the club’s senior players and a good friend are taking on a huge challenge next weekend. Their goal is to kick points in all 32 counties of Ireland, visiting a different club pitch in each county in 32 hours. The team consists of Connor, Emmet, Ciaran, Eoghan and Brian. The fundraiser is in aid of Connor’s mother, Nicola, who has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. They will set off on their journey next Friday, May 10th, and will kick their last point at the club’s own pitch on Sunday afternoon at around 4.30 p.m.. The club is hosting a bit of a gathering at the pitch from 4 p.m.. It would love to have as many club players, members and parents of underage players present for the homecoming. There are a couple of challenge matches taking place at the pitch during the day, with both the men's and ladies’ squads in action, including a St. Barry's Legends v Kilglass Gaels Legends game.

CONNACHT U-20 CHAMPIONS: Well done to the Roscommon U-20 team and management that beat Galway in the Connacht final on Saturday evening. St. Barry's player Cillian Campbell has been working with this panel all year, and the obvious strength of the team has meant his opportunities to shine on the field have been thin on the ground so far. However, Cillian has forced his way into the matchday squad, which is a sign of the work he's doing in training. Hopefully he'll be unleashed against an unsuspecting Tyrone side in the All-Ireland semi-final in Cavan in Saturday next. Well done Cillian — Connacht U-20 medals are as rare as hen’s teeth around St. Barry’s. Winning this one might stop Eamonn Bennett talking about his in 1978!

U-16 TEAMS: The Kilglass Gaels/St. Barry’s U-16 team, sponsored by Cox’s Steakhouse, Dromod, have recorded a couple of historic results in Division One. It is the first time that young lads from the club have competed in Division One. There is also a Division Four team, so there are plenty of opportunities for players. Having lost to Castlerea, the Division One team shared the spoils with Pádraig Pearses before defeating Kilmore/Shannon Gaels by 1-14 to 1-12. Good luck to both teams and mentors in their remaining games.

ST. CROAN’S

They face Leitrim in the Connacht intermediate final on Sunday next, May 12th, in Kiltoom. Well done to Alan Conroy, Conor Kennedy, Eoin Collins, Freddie Kelly and the Roscommon U-17 lads who have completed all their group games following their 2-8 to 0-8 victory over Sligo on Friday evening. They will be back in action for the semi-final on Friday, May 17th. Well done to Ailish Burke, Aisling Kennedy, Ava Smyth, Éabhanna Sheridan and the Roscommon U-14 girls who completed Stage One of the Platinum All-Ireland Series.
