Thank you to St. James’ GAA Club for the invite and for running an excellent tournament. The club also thanks coaches and parents who were part of this fantastic day. KILBRIDE

INTERMEDIATE LADIES: The intermediate ladies’ footballers just fell short against Pádraig Pearses, 1-12 to 2-7, in their county semi-final on Sunday. The team produced a spirited display, rallying from a five-point half-time deficit to push Pádraig Pearses all the way. Goals from Fiona Tully and Aisling Hanly, along with points from Casey Keane, Aisling Shanagher, and Hanly again, brought Kilbride right back into contention. Despite the comeback, a late penalty and a free from Pearses proved decisive.

ROCKY’S REBELS. The Kilbride junior ladies’ footballers — Rocky’s Rebels — dug deep to secure their place in the final of the Junior B championship with a 4-7 to 2-12 victory against Strokestown. Goals from Clodagh Spellman (2), Lorraine O’Connor, and Siobhán Martin, supported by key points from the same trio, kept Kilbride ahead in a game full of momentum swings. Strokestown pressed hard in the closing stages, but Kilbride’s defence held firm. The Rebels now advance to the final against St. Michael’s/St. Ronan’s in two weeks’ time. This team has been truly inspirational this season, and they are wished every success in their final outing.

UNDERAGE NEWS: The Kilbride U-14 boys’ team showed plenty of heart in their shield semi-final loss against Oran/St. Croan’s on a scoreline of 6-10 to 5-12. Trailing 4-6 to 1-5 at half time and playing into the breeze, the team showed incredible fight to take the lead with ten minutes to go before just coming up short. With many players still underage for two more years, the future looks bright for this determined group. Scorers included Senan Lohan (2-2), Harry Trimble (2-1), Shay Molloy (1-1), Charlie Madden, Ronan Dennigan, Ben McHugh (0-2 each), Cathal Farrell, Dara Feeley (0-1 each). The U-16 footballers were defeated 2-11 to 2-8 in their championship semi-final against Boyle. Despite goals from Jack Lally and Luke Hayes, and points from Tomás Lohan and Mark Naughton, Kilbride were left to rue missed chances. Boyle’s clinical finishing proved to be the difference. Scorers included Jack Lally (1-1), Luke Hayes (1-1), Tomás Lohan (0-4, two frees), Mark Naughton (0-2).

OTHER NEWS: The minor footballers dominated St. Aidan’s to progress to the Division Two county final against St. Dominic’s on a scoreline of 4-13 to 0-7. The intermediate men’s football team face St. Barry’s in their relegation play-off in Kiltoom on Wednesday at 8 p.m.. The U-14 girls enjoyed a brilliant day of football on Sunday as they took part in a well-organised seven-a-side tournament, which was hosted by St. Brigid’s in Kiltoom. Kilbride entered two evenly picked teams, giving all the players a chance to compete, develop, and enjoy the occasion. Both teams performed very well across their matches, showing great teamwork, skill, and spirit throughout. A big thank you to St. Brigid’s for the kind invitation and warm welcome. Days like these are what club football is all about— participation, enjoyment, and community. The club’s U-6, U-8, and U-10 groups wrapped up their final training session of the year on Sunday morning with plenty of energy and smiles. To mark the occasion, the club treated all the young players to ice cream.
