At least two more County Roscommon senior football clubs will have new managers at the helm for 2027.

Strokestown GAA Club has confirmed that Pearse McGinley has stepped down after three successful years at the helm.

After being beaten by Elphin in the 2024 intermediate final, Strokestown — under McGinley’s watch — bounced back in 2025 to take Roscommon and Connacht intermediate honours before reaching this year’s senior football championship semi-final where they were defeated by reigning champions St. Brigid’s.

"As senior manager Pearse McGinley steps away from his role, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for his dedication, passion and commitment over the past three years.

During his time at the helm, he guided our team to two intermediate county finals, a Connacht intermediate final victory, and, in our first year back in the senior ranks, a senior semi-final.

“These achievements are a testament to his leadership, hard work and belief in the team,” said Strokestown GAA Club on Facebook.

The club also thanked McGinley’s management team, adding that they left the club with the “utmost respect and appreciation, leaving behind plenty of great memories.”

The Roscommon Herald also understands that Clann na nGael are also on the lookout for a new manager after Declan O’Flaherty decided not to seek another term at the helm.
