Roscommon hoping to 'Master' the Kingdom

The Roscommon Masters football panel that will tackle Kerry in Saturday's All-Ireland semi-final in Clarecastle.

The Roscommon Masters football team are one win away from an appearance in the All-Ireland final.

Anthony Carroll’s men will face Kerry in the last four this Saturday in Clarecastle, County Clare, at 3.30 p.m. where they will be aiming to build on a strong showing during the group stages.

Roscommon’s previous competitive outing came last month when they defeated Galway 0-15 to 0-9 in Claregalway to book their direct passage to the last four.

The men in the Primrose and Blue have played six group games, winning five and drawing one to remain unbeaten and finish second in the table.

They have defeated Sligo, Mayo, Laois, Kildare and Galway, and shared the spoils with Cavan. The team are captained by Ian Kilbride (St. Brigid’s) with Ronan Cox (St. Michael’s) serving as vice-captain.

Kerry were forced to come through a play-off game with Antrim to reach the semi-final stages. The Munster men prevailed 1-12 to 2-7 in Tyrellspass before being drawn to face Roscommon this Saturday.

The winner of the game between Kerry and Roscommon will face either Dublin or Tyrone in the final for the Dr. Mickey Loftus Cup.
