ATHLEAGUE

WELL DONE: Athleague Camogie Club congratulates the Athleague/Oran combined U-14 that won the league against Boyle on Monday evening.

U-12 LEAGUE: The Barry Feeney Carpentry and Construction sponsored U-12 league continues on Thursday evening when Athleague Blue and Athleague White are at home in the second round.

UNDERAGE TRAINING: U-8 and U-10 training continues in Athleague on Wednesday evening at 6.30 p.m.. There are still a number of players in that age group to register, so players are requested to register before the next training session.

GOOD LUCK: The club wishes Athleague players Aideen O’Brien, Tara Naughton, Rachel Fitzmaurice, Jane Horan and the Roscommon junior camogie team all the best against Laois in the second round of the Premier Junior championship in Woodmount on Saturday next at 2 p.m..

EXAMS: The club would like to wish its members sitting Junior and Leaving Certificate exams, which begin on Wednesday, every success.

SENIOR LEAGUE: The senior team got back to winning ways on Friday evening last when they defeated Roscommon Gaels in the third round of the senior league in Athleague.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION: The Roscommon Camogie Board church gate collection takes place at churches in Athleague, Fuerty and Kilbegnet this weekend.

BOYLE

ON THE PITCH: The McGovern Civils sponsored men’s senior football team will play Oran in the ninth round of the O’Rourke Cup on Friday, June 6th, in the Abbey Park at 8 p.m.. The Cooney Motors sponsored junior men’s football team will play Castlerea St. Kevin’s in the ninth round of the Doormotion Tansey Cup on Sunday, June 8th, in Abbey Park at 12 p.m.. Congratulations to the U-14 Division One boys’ football team on their great win over Pádraig Pearses. They enjoyed a very successful league but, unfortunately, missed out on a place in the league final. The club congratulates the players and management on the hard work so far this season.

CAMOGIE: The U-12 Boyle Leopards will play Tulsk on June 5th in the Abbey Park at 7 p.m.. The U-12 Boyle Cheetahs will play St. Dominic’s on June 5th at 8 p.m.. Best of luck to the girls. Support for all Boyle teams is greatly appreciated.

CASTLEREA ST. KEVIN’S

LOTTO: Well done to Josh Craggs who won the lotto jackpot of €15,100 in last Friday evening’s draw. Lucky dip winner was Gerry Griffin. Next weekend’s draw will take place in the Cosy where the jackpot will be €4,000.

GAMES: The senior footballers play Strokestown in the O’Rourke Cup on Friday evening at 8 p.m.. The junior footballers are away to Boyle on Sunday in the Tansey Cup at 12 noon.

YOUNG ROSSIES: Best of luck to Captain Fantastic Dara Curran, Seán Vaughan and all involved in the Roscommon minor football panel who play Louth in the All-Ireland minor football championship quarter-final at Kingspan Breffni on Saturday at 7 p.m..

LGFA NEWS: Well done to the junior ladies’ team and management who won the Shield 7s tournament in Bekan on Saturday. It was a mighty effort by all involved.

ELPHIN

JERSEY SPONSOR DRAW: The Elphin GAA Club jersey sponsor draw is back. The winner of the draw will be the Elphin GAA senior team’s main sponsor for 2025 with their business name and logo on the front of the new jerseys. The runner-up will be named as the secondary sponsor and their logo will appear on the back of the 2025 jerseys. UNDERAGE BLITZES: The club is delighted to welcome Ray Horan and the Tara club from London to the U-13 blitz in Orchard Park on Saturday, June 7th. Tulsk, St. Aidan’s, Annaduff and Tubberclair will also be taking part. More details can be found on the ClubZap and social media channels. Elphin would also like to thank the Kilmore club for hosting Elphin’s U-10 players on Saturday morning. It was a super morning of fun and football for all involved.

ADULT TEAMS: Hard luck to the junior footballers who were defeated by Clann last Friday night. The next game is on Tuesday, June 10th, at 8 p.m. in the Orchard. Well done to the seniors on a good win over St. Michael’s.

CONGRATULATIONS: Well done to all the children who participated in the Féile U-13 Rounders for boys and girls in Clann na nGael on Saturday. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams were victorious and came home with silverware. The girls’ team won the shield and the boys’ team won the plate. Both teams showed an abundance of skills, playing many different teams from around the country. Well done to all involved.

KILBRIDE

LGFA NEWS: Well done to the U-14 girls who enjoyed a brilliant 6-14 to 2-2 win over Western Gaels in the final round of the league in Frenchpark on Thursday evening. They have finished third in the table and will play St. Michael's/St. Ronan's in the Division 3A semi-final on Thursday, June 12th. Team: Ellie Mae Sarason, Freya Brennan, Zara McDermott, Eleanor Gavigan, Ruby Dowling, Emma Finneran, Claire Farrell, Rosie O’Farrell, Emily Hanley, Aimee Farrell, Roisín Lohan (2-2), Sadhbh Kelleher (2-4), Ailbhe O’Connor, Erin Farrell (1-0), Sophie Cleary (0-2) Jessica Lohan (0-3), Emily O’Shea (1-3). The U-12 girls have a busy week with two home games. On Wednesday, they play Kilmore/Kilglass on the top pitch at 7.30 p.m.. On Sunday, they play their neighbours, Roscommon Gaels, at 6 p.m.. The club is hosting an U-8 blitz on Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. where they will welcome teams from St. Mary’s and St. Faithleach’s. Hard luck to Aisling Hanley and the county intermediate ladies’ footballers on their defeat to Laois in Portlaoise on Sunday.

U-8 BLITZ: The Kilbride U-8s were in action on Thursday evening, May 29th, taking part in a blitz hosted in Enfield alongside teams from Tulsk and Oran/St. Croan’s. Kilbride fielded three teams, while Oran/Croan’s had two and Tulsk one, ensuring plenty of exciting football for all involved. Each Kilbride team played against the visiting sides in a series of lively and entertaining matches. These young players continue to show fantastic improvement on a weekly basis, demonstrating great skill, enthusiasm, and determination. Well done to all the players, coaches, and supporters — keep up the great work.

TANSEY CUP: Kilbride’s intermediate men’s footballers secured a well-deserved 1-11 to 0-9 win over Roscommon Gaels in the Tansey Cup on Wednesday evening in Lisnamult. Kilbride delivered a strong, consistent performance, leading at half time and maintaining control for much of the game. Although Roscommon Gaels began to gain momentum in the closing stages, a decisive late goal from Mike Devine ensured victory for Kilbride.

COMMUNITY GAMEAS: The club congratulates Ruth Dennigan on making it to the Community Games Athletics national finals in the 1500 metres.

REMEMBERING ROCKY: A group of former Kilbride ladies’ footballers are set to return to action in this year’s Roscommon LGFA Junior Championship to honour their late team-mate and captain, Rochelle ‘Rocky’ Mullaney, on the first anniversary of her passing. The team, made up of players from Kilbride’s five-in-a-row championship-winning sides from 2016 to 2020, will reunite to form a second team in the competition. The idea was inspired by conversations among former team-mates following Rochelle’s funeral, with the goal of paying tribute to her memory through the sport she loved. Roscommon LGFA has approved their participation, and around 15 to 20 players have committed to taking part in what will be an emotional return to action.

FIXTURES: U-8 girls’ blitz in Kilbride on Wednesday evening at 6.30 p.m.. It promises to be an evening of fun and skill as the club’s youngest stars take to the pitch. An U-10 boys’ blitz will take place in Kilbride on Saturday at 11 a.m.. The intermediate men’s footballers play St. Barry’s in the Tansey Cup in Kilbride on Sunday at 12.30 p.m.. Support would be appreciated. The U-12 girls play Roscommon Gaels in Kilbride on Sunday evening at 6 p.m.. A strong home performance would be a great way to round off the weekend.

LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot in the draw on May 31st. . Five €20 winners were Martin Carley, Kildare; Michael Cooney, Roxboro; John Farrell; Ger Butler, Galway; Damien Maguire, Donamon. The jackpot stands at €13,800 for the next draw on Saturday, June 14th.

MICHAEL GLAVEYS

CONNACHT 7S: Well done to the club’s ladies team that defeated Tuam-Cortoon to win the Junior Shield Cup at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence on Saturday last. Captain Niamh Fleming accepted the cup from Connacht LGFA President Brendan Cregg. In her acceptance speech, Niamh thanked her team-mates and the management of PJ Fleming, James Hussey, Lorraine Mulligan and Kieran Hanley.

RESULTS: The Division Four men’s team recorded a good 2-15 to 1-8 win against St. Faithleach’s. The O’Rourke Cup team were beaten, 2-13 to 0-12, by Clann na nGael. The Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg U-14s lost the league final to Shannon Gaels/Kilmore by 3-12 to 4-6. The U-16s were defeated by a point in their league final against Western Gaels.

ROUNDERS SUCCESS: The U-13 boys were runners-up at National Féile. After emerging from their round robin group, they defeated Glynn Barntown from Wexford in the semi-final before losing to Emo from Laois in the final. Thanks to Seán and Katherina Bailey for all their help.

NORTHERN GAELS

UNDERAGE NEWS: The U-13 footballers defeated Kilconly by 2-6 to 0-6 to make it four wins out of five on Friday, May 23rd. On Friday last, the team were beaten by Kilkerrin/Clonberne on a scoreline of 2-7 to 3-6, despite a brilliant second-half performance. Jack Giblin scored some early goals to send the U-15 footballers on their way to a 8-11 to 4-11 victory against Ballinasloe on Tuesday last. Northern Gaels had 21 players togged out and were 7-9 to 1-2 ahead at half time. It was great to have Eoin Brennan back on the pitch after his injury. Well done to the U-11s boys and girls on a great game against Dunmore. There was a great turnout for the U-9 game against Kilkerrin/Clonberne on Thursday, May 29th. There was a high level of teamwork, passing and skill on show. The next outing is the Galway GAA Blitz on Saturday, June 7th.

SHANNON GAELS

RESULTS: O’Gara Cup, Shannon Gaels 5-17, St. Croan’s 2-19. The Kilmore/Shannon Gaels (KSG) U-14 Division Two team recorded a good win against Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg in the league final. The junior men’s team’s game was abandoned due to an injury. Shannon Gaels wishes the Ballinameen player a speedy recovery.

FIXTURE: Saturday, June 7th, intermediate men play Pádraig Pearses in Woodmount at 5.30 p.m..

CONGRATULATIONS: Well done to the Kilmore/Shannon Gaels U-14 boys’ team who had a great win over Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg in the Division Two League final. It was a superb game of football with very little separating both teams at any stage. However, some superb saves alongside determination and grit got a talented KSG team across the line. Well done to their coaches and everybody who went to Ballinameen to support the lads.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION: Thank you to everyone who contributed to the church gate collection and to James Egan for organising.

50/50 DRAW: Play the club’s 50/50 draw via the Shannon Gaels App or grab an envelope from any of the local businesses. The weekly draws take place every Sunday evening live on Facebook. The winner takes 50 per cent. Last week’s winner was Milo Beirne, Croghan, who won €1,380. The club thank James Egan for co-ordinating such good sales and jackpots during May.

SHOOTING STARS: The club’s Shooting Stars programme returns every Saturday at Páirc na nGael (Bullfield).

ST. BARRY'S

STATE EXAMS: Best of luck to all the St. Barry’s players and members who are starting state exams this week.

COUNTY TEAMS: Hard luck to Shannon McGuinness and the Roscommon intermediate ladies’ team who were beaten by Laois in the TG4 All-Ireland intermediate championship in Portlaoise on Sunday last. The girls will play Fermanagh in the next round. Best of luck to Tadgh Rogers and the Roscommon minor footballers in the All-Ireland quarter-final against Louth in Cavan on Saturday next.

PITCH DEVELOPMENT: There has been plenty of activity around the grounds in recent weeks, with the new training pitch almost ready for grass seeding.

GET WELL SOON: Best wishes to Coman Conroy from Roosky, who is recovering from a recent accident. Coman has played with the Kilglass Gaels/St. Barry’s underage teams and featured in the U-20 final team last year.

CONNACHT 7S: The club’s ladies’ football panel enjoyed a good day at the Connacht 7s Blitz in Bekan on Saturday. They won their first four games, qualifying for the intermediate final before losing out to a strong Ballyhaunis squad. Well done girls.

ST. FAITHLEACH’S

COMMUNITY GAMES: Well done to the St. Faithleach’s players who won county medals at the Community Games Athletics finals in Ballyleague on Saturday. The U-14 boys’ relay team of Tadhg Shea, Lorcan Vesey, Ben Smith and Hugh Creedon won gold and have qualified for the All-Ireland finals. In the U-16 100 metres, Sophie Cox won a silver medal, while Katie Smith picked up a bronze.

U-14 GIRLS: Well done to the U-14 girls’ footballers who won their final league game against St. Mary’s on a scoreline of 4-9 to 1-2. They have now reached the Division 4A final.

JUNIOR LADIES: The junior ladies’ footballers are in action next Sunday, June 8th, in the league quarter-final away to Strokestown at 4 p.m.. The best of luck to the team and their management. Support would be appreciated.

SENIOR MEN: The senior men’s team will take on Michael Glaveys in the Cora Systems Senior League on Friday, June 6th, in Ballinlough, at 8 p.m.. The club wishes the team and management every success. Once again, support would be appreciated.

CONDOLENCES: The club wishes to extend its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Jim Browne, Ballyglass. Jim was a former minor and senior club chairperson and lifelong supporter alongside his beloved Phil. May he Rest In Peace.

ST. JOSEPH’S

TANSEY CUP: Castlerea 4-16, St. Joseph's 4-13. An epic game ensued in Castlerea on Friday evening last as St. Joseph’s went down by three points in a pulsating game of football. This Tansey Cup league game was a great advertisement for the new rules. As the two teams went toe to toe, Castlerea raced into an early 11-point lead, but credit to the Joseph’s lads who came roaring back into the contest with some well-worked goals from Paddy Fannon and Ronan Garvey alongside some excellent points from M.J. Egan and Liam Egan to only trail by a point, 2-8 to 2-7, at half time. The second half mirrored the first in many ways as further goals more M.J. Egan and Lee Kilroe propelled St. Joseph’s ahead entering the final quarter. But, in the last few minutes, a flicked Castlerea goal swung the game back in their favour. Despite a number of opportunities to work a score falling to St. Joseph’s, Castlerea held firm and won by three points in the end. The next game is against Roscommon Gaels on Saturday, June 7th, in Kilteevan at 6 p.m..

NICKEY RACKARD CUP: The club congratulates Eoin Kiernan and the Roscommon senior hurling panel on their fabulous victory against Mayo in the final of the Nickey Rackard Cup in Croke Park on Saturday last.

ST. MICHAEL’S

MIXED WEEK: It turned out to be a mixed week of results for the Joe Simon sponsored adult men’s team. The intermediate footballers faced a strong Elphin side in tough conditions at a rain-soaked and blustery Orchard Park on Wednesday last. Despite a promising start and holding the lead for most of the first half, the lads were eventually edged out by an Elphin team that finished strongly to take the O’Gara Cup points on offer. The team welcome Creggs to Ardcarne Park on Friday evening at 8 p.m.. The junior footballers bounced back on Friday evening with a solid 2-10 to 0-10 win over Kilglass Gaels in their Division Five League match in Roosky. Goals proved crucial — a great response to cap off the week.

UNDERAGE GAA: Hard luck to the U-16 boys’ football panel and management who lost their league semi-final by three points to Roscommon Gaels in Lisnamult on Monday.

LGFA: Well done to the U-14 Division Three girls’ team that defeated Éire Óg in Loughglynn on Thursday last. Best of luck to the Division Five side who play Clann na nGael in Ardcarne Park on Tuesday, June 3rd, at 7 p.m.. The U-12 girls enjoyed a positive result against St. Mary's from Tulsk in blustery but dry conditions at Ardcarne Park on Sunday evening. Thanks to all the girls and parents/guardians for turning out on a Bank Holiday Sunday. Their next fixture takes place next Sunday, June 7th, away to Four Roads.

CONNACHT LGFA 7S: Well done the junior ladies’ footballers that took part in the Connacht LGFA Junior 7s tournament at the Connacht Centre of Excellence in Bekan on Saturday. The Saints lost to Glinsk in their opening game before defeating Kilconly in a high-scoring cracker. A narrow two-point loss against Eoghan Rua of Sligo followed before they concluded with a terrific contest against Mountbellow-Moylough where the Galway girls eventually came out on top.

EXAMS: Best of luck to all students sitting their Leaving and Junior Cert exams this week.

ROSCOMMON PPN: The club was delighted to receive a presentation last week from Roscommon County Council and Roscommon Public Participation Network for providing a community hub during Storm Eowyn. Thanks to Nuala O’Hara for attending and accepting the presentation on St. Michael’s behalf.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Well done to the athletes from the parish that took part in the athletics finals in Ballyleague on Saturday. Ardcarne reached every final in the relays where they won silver in the U-14 and U-16 girls’ competitions. The individual events also saw plenty of children from the area running in heats, semi-finals and finals. The following children have qualified for the national/provincial finals: National, Roisin Cummins, U-16 girls’ 100 metres. Provincial, Thomas Sharkey, 3rd, U-12 600 metres; Saoirse Cox, 3rd, U-12 100 metres; Eleanor Reilly, 2nd, 800 metres; Nikita Masyutin, 3rd, 800 metres; Robyn McGarry, 3rd, U-14 200 metres. Thanks very much to everyone who assisted, ensuring that no child missed their race. Eddie O'Hagan (U-12 boys’ long puck) and Aoife Cryan (U-14 girls’ long puck) will represent Ardcarne at the field events in Castlerea on Friday, June 6th.

ST. RONAN’S

TANSEY CUP: The junior football team recorded a good win against St. Barry's in the Tansey Cup at Kilronan Park on Friday evening last. The final score was St. Ronan's 3-10, St. Barry's 0-11. On Sunday, the team play Kilglass Gaels in Kilronan Park at 12.30 p.m..

LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot in last weekend’s draw.
