REPLAY DISAPPOINTMENT: The Paul Flynn Construction and RosGal Loss Assessors sponsored senior footballers’ season concluded in disappointment at Dr. Hyde Park on Saturday afternoon last. Thanks to all involved players, management and backroom team for their efforts. Once again, they provided supporters with some fantastic displays and memorable victories against Clann na nGael, St. Dominic’s, Oran, Boyle and St. Faithleach’s. They produced another great display in the drawn final before coming up short on Saturday in their efforts to win the club’s back-to-back senior football titles. Thanks to all the supporters who travelled in great numbers to get behind the team.
CAMOGIE SUCCESS: Congratulations to the Athlone Chimney Repairs and Billy King Pharmacy junior camogie team and management on their county final win on Sunday morning. The final scoreline read Pádraig Pearses 2-13, Four Roads 1-3. It is an incredible achievement for this team and management to bring home the Tom Geraghty Cup for the second year in a row. They will now compete at senior level next year. After a nervous start, Pádraig Pearses settled into the game and began to show the skill, spirit, and teamwork that have defined their season. The defence stood tall after some early pressure from Four Roads, and grew in confidence with every clearance. The midfielders worked tirelessly, linking play and driving the team forward, while the forwards — and some of the backs — took some fantastic scores as the game went on. Once they found their flow, Pádraig Pearses took control of the contest and never looked back. Every player stood their ground and played their part. Well done to the whole panel and management, and special congratulations to Róisín O'Sullivan who was awarded Player of the Match. The journey continues for this group with a Connacht camogie semi-final on the weekend of November 15th/16th.

U-20 FOOTBALLERS: The U-20 footballers repeated last year’s trick by defeating St. Michael’s/St. Ronan’s in a close Division Three semi-final. Two late Cian Quinn scores snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in Elphin. The team found themselves three points behind in the closing stages but a goal from Quinn, after Tadgh Rogers forced a brilliant turnover, was followed by the winner from the same player to make sure that Kilglass/Barry’s returned to the final for the second year in succession where they will play Tulsk. U-20 SEMI-FINAL: Hard luck to the U-20 footballers who were edged out by Kilglass/Barry’s in their Division Three semi-final at Orchard Park, Elphin, on Sunday. A big save from Daniel Regan to prevent a third Kilglass/Barry’s goal looked like a huge turning point. Jack Beirne and Alex Oates goaled either side of half time to level the match. Two pointers from play from Ruadhan Henry and Bríon O'Dowd put the lads three up entering the closing stages. However, a 57th minute from Kilglass/Barry’s was followed by a free, which saw them prevail by 3-7 to 2-9.
