ATHLEAGUE

GOOD LUCK: The club would like to wish every success to club members Aideen O’Brien, Rachel Fitzmaurice, Jane Horan and Tara Naughton who are part of the Roscommon junior camogie panel that are playing Laois in the fourth round of the Very National League on Saturday next. The match is scheduled for a Laois venue at 2 p.m.. The team are in second place in the table, just one point behind Laois who have won all their games. Roscommon are undefeated with two wins and a draw.

CONGRATULATIONS: The club would like to congratulate the following club members on their success in the Third Level Colleges finals in Belfast last weekend. Ciara Moran was manager of the ATU Galway that won the Donaghy Cup final. Ciara Dowd was a member of the UL team that won the Lagan Cup final. Ciara also received the Player of the Match award.

MEMBERSHIP: Players and coaches can now register for 2025 on the Foireann website. The current membership will cease at the end of March. All members need to be registered before training starts. Membership rates for 2025 are as follows: Non players, €40; U-8, €30; U-18, €50; Students over 18, €75; Adult player, €85.

BALLINAMEEN

TANSEY CUP: Well done to the junior football team who defeated Castlerea in the second round of the Tansey Cup on Sunday morning. They play Roscommon Gaels in the next round on March 29th. The Junior B team kick off their Division Five campaign this Saturday against St. Michael’s in Ardcarne Park at 4.30 p.m..

50/50 DRAW: The club held its monthly 50/50 draw on Sunday, March 2nd, in Farrell's. Congratulations to the winners, James Brennan and Katelyn Roddy, who won €2,065. The next draw is on March 30th in Dodd’s. Tickets are on sale online, on the app, or from any member of the executive committee.

CASTLEREA ST. KEVIN’S

LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot in last weekend’s draw. Lucky dip winners were Jimmy Donaghue, Noel Nolan, John McDermott, Patricia and John Lyons, and Daniel Coyne. Next weekend’s jackpot is €14,100 for the draw in Silke’s.

YOUNG ROSSIES: The best of luck to John Curran and the Roscommon U-20s that play Mayo in Castlebar on Wednesday, and to Dara Curran and Seán Vaughan and the Roscommon minor team that play Sligo in The Hyde on Friday. It is a great achievement for Dara who captains the minor team, an honour that is richly deserved.

SENIOR LEAGUE: Well done to the senior footballers who defeated Oran in the O’Rourke Cup on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-6 last Saturday. Hard luck to the junior team that were beaten by Ballinameen.

BOXING: Well done to Aoife and Lisa O’Rourke on winning silver medals at the World Boxing Championships — an absolutely brilliant achievement for both girls.

SYMPATHY: Condolences to the McDermott family, Cloonkeen, on the passing of Pat and the Shallow family, Tuam, on the passing of Padraic. May they Rest In Peace.

KILBRIDE

LGFA: The adult ladies commenced their league campaign on Sunday when they travelled to Tarmonbarry. The game finished on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-2 in St. Barry’s favour. The game was much more competitive than the scoreline suggests. Kilbride were guilty of some bad decision making at times. Too many passes went astray and the team couldn’t convert possession into scores. However, there were also a lot of positives from this young team in what was their first competitive outing. The next game is against St. Dominic’s on Sunday, April 6th, in Kilbride. Team: Sarah Shanagher, Aoife Tully, Niamh Tully, Katelyn Shally, Grace Dowling, Caoimhe Neary, Laura McSharry, Aisling Shanagher, Fiona Tully, Ciara Maguire, Casey Keane, Ivannah Looby, Clara Tully, Aoibhinn Neary, Carla Griffin. U-16 TEAM: The U-16 team recorded a good win against Northern Harps. They found themselves behind at the halfway mark, 3-3 to 2-3, but a strong second-half performance saw them finish ahead on a scoreline of 6-5 to 3-5. Well done to all involved. The next game is away to Michael Glaveys on Sunday, March 30th. WELL DONE AISLING: A huge congratulations to Aisling Hanly who was part of the DCU team that won the O’Connor Cup last weekend.

KILGLASS GAELS

The junior men’s footballers defeated Roscommon Gaels by two points in their second league game last weekend. They have a break next weekend but the Division Five team are in action against Éire Óg on Saturday at 4.30 p.m.. The Kilglass Gaels/Kilmore ladies’ team lost out to Castlerea St. Kevin’s in their second league game, having been defeated by Pádraig Pearses a week earlier.

LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot in last weekend’s draw. Aidan and JP, Paul Diffley and Mary McCormack matched three numbers.

FUNDRAISER: The club launched a major fundraiser in Noel’s Bar, Roosky, on March 16th. There are ten prizes up for grabs. The top prize is a Massey Ferguson 35 or €5,000, kindly sponsored by Mickey James and Pauline Cox, Hollybrook. Tickets are priced at €10 each, three for €20 or eight for €50. They are available from club members and online. The draw will take place on the October Bank Holiday weekend. O’ROURKE CUP: The Paul Flynn/RosGal sponsored senior footballers edged out Roscommon Gaels by 3-8 to 2-10 in their second O’Rourke Cup game of the season. Caelim Keogh’s goal handed Pearses a 1-5 to 0-7 advantage at the interval. Jack Tumulty added two further goals before Paul Carey’s point following a foul on Eoin Colleran, in what was the last kick of the game, procured a narrow win. The next game is away to Boyle on Saturday, March 29th, at 5 p.m.. SHANNON GAELS

RESULTS: The Division Two men’s team were beaten by Tulsk, 2-17 to 0-11. The senior ladies recorded a good 2-11 to 0-5 victory against St. Mary’s Tulsk. The U-16 girls lost out to St. Faithleach’s on a scoreline of 4-7 to 2-11.

FIXTURES: The junior men’s footballers play Tulsk on March 22nd in Tulsk at 4.30 p.m..

CONGRATULATIONS: The club congratulates Aisling Ryan and Sarah Boyd on winning the 2025 HEC Cup with DCU. A special shoutout to Sarah, who was named Player of the Match — an incredible achievement. It’s fantastic to see club players excelling at colleges across the country.

50/50 DRAW: The 50/50 draw is back. Make sure to play online on the Shannon Gaels App or grab an envelope from any of the local businesses. The weekly draws will take place every Sunday night live on Facebook. The winner takes 50 per cent. Last week’s winner was John Cunniffe, Dysart, who won €830.

PARADE: Well done to members who took part in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Carrick-on-Shannon. A big thank you to Tracey for organising and looking after everyone.

SHOOTING STARS: Any child interested in joining Shannon Gaels should contact Alan at 086 3855334. The club’s Shooting Stars programme takes place between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. every Friday in the complex, Carrick-on-Shannon.

ST. BARRY'S

LGFA TEAMS: Sunday was a productive morning for the club’s ladies’ teams, with good wins for the adult and U-16 teams. The intermediate ladies defeated Kilbride by 2-13 to 1-2 in the Division One League. The U-16 travelled to Roscommon Gaels and enjoyed a comprehensive victory.

DINNER DANCE: With just over a week to go until the club’s celebration dinner dance, tickets are flying out the door. Saturday, March 29th, is the date, and the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon Town, is the venue. Tickets are limited.

THE ROSSIES: Good luck to Cillian Campbell and Tadgh Rogers who are both involved with Roscommon teams commencing their provincial championships this week. Cillian is part of the Roscommon U-20 squad that are hoping to retain their Connacht championship. They play Mayo in the first round on Wednesday in Castlebar. Tadgh has showed up well on the minor panel and should feature in their championship campaign, which starts on Friday evening in the Hyde against Sligo. With Shannon McGuinness establishing herself as a regular starter with the Roscommon intermediate ladies’ football team, as well as several St. Barry's players featuring on various Roscommon underage ladies’ football panels, these are exciting times for St. Barry's players.

CASH FOR CLOBBER: The cash for clobber collection is up and running again. Bags of clothes can be left at the clubhouse after any training session.

ST. CROAN’S

RESULTS: The Division Two adult men’s team shared the spoils with St. Michael’s on a scoreline of 1-14 to 3-8 in the O’Gara Cup. The ladies’ team’s Division Two game was conceded by Western Gaels.

FIXTURE: Sunday, March 23rd, LGFA Adult League Division Five, St. Croan’s v Clann na nGael in Johnstown at 12 p.m..

SCHOOLS’ SEMI-FINAL: Commiserations to Orlaith, Kiera, and the Mercy College Roscommon senior ladies’ football team and management on their defeat to Skibbereen Community School in the All-Ireland PPS Senior A semi-final on Wednesday last.

GILES CUP: Well done to Ella Thompson and Nessa Towey, daughter of Michael Towey and granddaughter of Club President Patricia Towey, on Mary Immaculate College’s victory over UCD in the Giles Cup on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-8 last Saturday.

U-20 FOOTBALLERS: Best of luck to Alan Conroy, Eoin Collins and the Roscommon U-20 footballers who start their championship campaign against Mayo on Wednesday, March 19th, in Castlebar at 5.30 p.m..

ST. JOSEPH’S

LEAGUE VICTORY: The junior footballers commenced their league campaign with a 4-10 to 0-9 victory against Boyle on Sunday morning. Early goals from Paddy Fannon (2) and Dara Hynes, alongside points from Mark Gilleran, handed St. Joseph’s a 3-4 to 0-2 half-time lead. Despite a comeback from Boyle, St. Joseph’s kicked on with some well-worked scores from Mickey Joe Egan, Kevin Glynn and Liam Egan. The next league match takes place on this Saturday, March 22nd, against St. Ronan’s in Kilteevan.

ST. MICHAEL’S

GAMES: The Joe Simon Home Garden and Build sponsored O’Gara Cup team drew with St. Croan’s in the second round of the league last weekend. They play Pádraig Pearses in Ardcarne Park on Sunday, March 30th, at 11 a.m.. In the meantime, the Division Five team face Ballinameen next Saturday, March 22nd, in Ardcarne Park at 4.30 p.m..

LGFA: The junior ladies’ footballers, sponsored by Boyle Credit Union, welcomed Michael Glaveys to Ardcarne Park for their opening game of the league on Sunday morning. An early goal for the visitors was the difference between the sides during a competitive opening half. Glaveys struck for two more majors just after the interval but the Saints responded in kind with a pair of their own to set up an exciting final quarter. However, the away side tacked on some late points to secure a hard-fought 3-8 to 2-4 victory. Well done to the panel and management on a sterling effort that bodes well for the future. Meanwhile the U-16 girls produced another hard-working performance on Sunday evening, despite being defeated by a strong Oran/St. Croan's side.

ROSSIE RAMBLE: The Rossie Ramble will take place in The Claddagh Ring Pub, Hendon on Friday, April 4th, on the eve of the London v Roscommon Connacht SFC game. Included as part of the initiative will be the Rossie Ramble Draw, with proceeds going towards the final phase of the Tulsk GAA pitch development, including lighting, fencing and a walkway surrounding the new training pitch. SAFEGUARDING COURSE: The club is hosting a Safeguarding Children’s Course for coaches and mentors of underage teams on Friday, March 21st, between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. in Tulsk Macra Hall. The cost is €10 per person. Anyone interested should contact Felicia Loughrey or Kieran Moylan.

WESTERN GAELS

LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot in last weekend’s draw. €20 winners were Mary Finneran, Sharon Lavin, Kevin Duffy and Pat Browne, Noreen Harington, and Marie Theresa Cooney. The jackpot for next Saturday evening’s draw will be €8,500. Tickets are available online through Clubforce, the Clubforce app or from local outlets.
